Ah, Consultation at Last!
You know your kinda screwed when:
REGINA _ Saskatchewan wants to do a better job of consulting with First Nations and Metis before approving industrial projects that affect traditional lands.
The government has released draft rules that the province and companies would have to follow in energy, mining and forestry developments.
The rules would require industry to contact aboriginal groups in the early planning stages and provide clear and accurate information about a project and its potential effects.
First Nations Minister June Draude says the province wants feedback on the first phase of the proposal by the end of February.
This winter, the province wants to begin looking at how aboriginals can share in economic growth and come up with a way to resolve disputes over traditional land use.
Draude said the government plans to start consultations next spring.
** What the article is really saying is that: in Brad Wall's Saskatchewan, the resource sector will now 'consult' before it rapes!
